1. Wheel flange lubrication
 The Intelligent Wheel Flange Lubrication system (iWFL) has been designed by Rowe Hankins Ltd and is described in detail on their website (www.rowehankins.com). The system has been installed on a heritage DMU for test and demonstration, and is also on trial elsewhere.The system is controlled by either distance or a curving sensor or GPS, applying precise amounts of ecologically acceptable lubricant, its single pipe system allowing easy depot-based maintenance. |
 HBT managed the initial trials, supported the design and stress analysis, and ensured compliance with the mechanical aspects of Railway Group Standards. |
2. WiFi installation
 HBT supervised the installation of WiFi for Nomad Digital on Class 377 Electrostars; managed the component procurement process and ensured compliance with VAB requirements. |
3. Engineering Access Train
I n association with a third party HBT has developed a concept for an engineering train to provide logistical and civil engineering support for the TfL underground system stations modifications and upgrade programme. |
4. Market review
 HBT carried out a review of the rail market and opportunities for a leading foundry group. |
